I just came back from Tennesse and what a time I had! The rolling hills, the beautiful pasture lands, the cliffs, the rivers and streams, the winding roads I could go on and on. It seems like they have all types of land to suit anything a person could want.
My friend Jackie took me to see several places for sale (we might move out of Florida.....maybe) they were quaint little towns south of Nashville where people waved and pride still showed in thier homes and towns. I was amazed that we could walk into a fast food joint that was suberbly clean, the kids that took our orders were extremely polite and everyone spoke English. The convience stores were the same way, as a long time resident of Florida I did not realize that places such as this existed.
One of the days we went to where the Amish live and looked for little signs along the road announcing thier wares. Us being horse people of course ignored the ones for jams, jellies and soap wanting only tack. It was interesting to see the skills of different leathermakers with some being really good and some not so good. I remember looking at a breastcollar where the stiching was so uneven I was surprised the guy was proud enough to sell it.
The Amish are not a very friendly people, I got yelled at for taking a picture and if you wave to the kids or say hello don't expect them to wave back. One "nice" Amish lady did tell me abit about the people when I asked her if the kids are not supposed to talk to anyone and she said that most of them do not speak English only Pensylvannia Dutch but they are allowed to talk if they want. All in all it was very interesting but I was happy to leave the area and get back to civilization.
